I have had a loud gurgle, gowling noise in tummy went to my doctor the other day, he said i must be too tight. Has anyone else had this? I notice it only happens the days i do not drink much Water, or havent eaten for a few hours.

I have that issue too. I can't wait too long between something going into the stomach (liquid or solids) every four hours or so. If I wait too long I have a very hard time getting down more than a bite or two. So, when I have lunch at noon I try to plan an afternoon snack (yogurt, pretzels, something small) for about 4 o'clock so that I can get through to six o'clock without getting that nasty growly/gurgly tummy.

Take care.

I have had it too if I wait too long to eat. I don't think it is related to tightness as I am my sweet spot and I can eat normal bandster friendly food easily, but I am not an expert. If tightness is a reason for the noise, I will take an occasional loud gurgle noise if I wait too long to eat over being hungry too fast, eating too much and not losing much weight.

I've just been banded a week but started hearing that noise within the 2nd day. I used to hear that noise before I got fat. That just means you have an empty stomach. The reason why I'm fat is because I haven't allowed my stomache to empty. I don't think that sound should alarm you at all; you should rejoice that you have enough control to let your stomach empty from time to time.

Wow an empty tummy, what a change, have noticed that am not so concious about eating anymore when i am busy, but will keep healthy Snacks on me if need, rather than just a coffee. And yes it happens if havent eaten for 4 or more hours --- not eating for 4 or more hours never the old me,but now.... and dropped 10 pounds in one month, had initial surgery 18 sep 2007, and going strong.

I've had the loud growling and gurgling noise since being banded but it doesn't bother me because I'm not feeling any hunger at this point.

Long2bFree, you and I are practically band twins. I had mine one day before you. Let's try to keep in touch.

My tummy makes all kinds of noise too! Sometimes it is VERY loud. I have not noticed it having anything to do with being hungry (for me) and being tight is not an issue either.

I am not sure how to start a new thread but I could sure use some help. I am 4 days out and I feel great. I have been walking around my yard a lot. My problem is when I sit down I have horrible gas pain. Like a tight tube aound my chest. If I lay down I pass gas no problem. Do I just deal with it and keep sitting in the chair?

Thanks. Lori

puterlady:

I think that is the reason why some recently banded people sleep in a reclining chair for a few days. I think that continually walking will help, along with a few days passing.

Good luck and hope the gas goes away soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
