Well, I went to the seminar today. I must say I am really excited to get this thing going. They said it will take about 2 weeks to hear something from the insurance, but there were a lot of people there, so I am sure it could take longer if they are checking with the insurance. They said the quickest would be about 4 weeks that is if everything is smooth sailing with the insurance and they approve. My only thing is some of it is going to be expensive. The psych eval will be 200.00, the dietician will be 200. I will have to buy THEIR supplements and Protein foods for the preop will be 150.00, for the postop part it will be 200.00. The 400 dollars for the psych eval and the dietician has to be paid on the day you meet with them. One good thing though, the fills will only be 87.00. I was expecting it to be much more expensive than that. I just hope I can come up with the out-of-pocket money. If not, then it will make everything slower. They have a diet class that is held on Thursdays and is 4 hours long.

Anyway, I didn't mean to ramble, but I'm excited and please keep your fingers crossed I will be one of the lucky ones that will get to have it done in a month!

Best of luck to you ! I know it seems like a long road until you get there but it will be worth it. I started preparing for the insurance/doctors back in 11/07 by starting the weight mgmt program....Did that for 6 months and ran into headaches between my "fat" doctor and the insurance...just got approved this month! So just be patient!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
