Haircut suggestions?

To straighten hair, you have got to get a chi Iron. Go to Sally's beauty supply to purchase so that it will be cheaper. I tried the kind available at Target, and was really disappointed with the results. Once I got the good gold-plated kind at Sally's, I love my flat-iron. I can use it to put a bit of volume near the roots, and then straighten the rest so that it follows the contour of my head.

A good straightening Iron is woman's best friend. Forget diamonds.

But it must be a good one, like a GHD or mine is a bioionic, and i"m sure there's great ones that I havent heard of in the US. Cheap ones will ruin your hair.

I dont have to do mine EVERY day. Like Sunday mornings I do my long run so I shower and do my hair after that, and it lasts through Monday, I never wet my hair Monday. And I wont run tonight, its a rest day so I wont wash my hair tomorrow either.

Mine copes with humidity well, but if I get caught in the rain, its a disaster. But that's my hair, not my current hairstyle. Its always been the case.

But for anyone that wants great hair, styling is a fact of life. Unless you're genetically blessed, you will never get that professional look just leaving your hair to dry naturally. Mine is hideous, that's never ever been an option for me, but meh, it takes 20 minutes. How hard is that? For good hair?

well i'm a woman who will never forget diamonds - EVER....but know a good hair styling product/iron when i find one....i'm a fan of the croc flat Iron made by misikko:

Croc Flat Iron, Hair Straightener & Blow Dryer at Misikko - FREE 2 DAY SHIPPING

i have thick hair that has a "wave" ... nothing over the top - but what i like about the croc is that i can flat iron my hair WET. i literally throw product in - run about then take 5min to flat iron. i'm left w/constant shine....it's a little pricey - but for low maintanence individuals it's a gem.

OOOOH, one you can use wet? I'm salivating. I have almost exactly the same haircut as you.

the only wet to dry's here are Vidal Sassoon ones wich are a pretty crappy brand and would fry your hair.

For those gals with curly (or wavy) hair...

I have extreme curl. I have fought that curl for most of my life. I have tried every product on the shelves to fight frizz, smooth it out, etc. - all to no avail. Temporary results at best. A humid day or a rain storm would send me running.

One day I was on the internet searching for some miracle product and came across a website...Naturallycurly.com: Where curls come to life!

I read through everything like a thirsty woman in the desert. I have been following their advice for about a year now. My hair has gotten even curlier. But there is no frizz, my hair is bouncy, shiny and healthy. Everyone comments and cannot believe that the curl is natural. So here is my routine:

  • I wash and condition every other day with Suave Naturals (the only silicone free products at normal stores).
  • I use a conditioning cleanser in between. (DevaCurl NoPoo)
  • I use the full line of DevaCurl products for styling (no silicones).
  • I always let my hair air dry.

All of the products that are being billed as "frizz" fighters contain silicones (read the ingredients and anything ending in "cone" or "xane" is a silicone). Silicones coat the hair and prevent moisture from penetrating. This causes dryness, which causes frizziness, which causes you to put on more product, which seems to work temporarily. This is why curly hair looks great after a cut and gets progressively worse until the next cut.

I stopped fighting and am now embracing my curl. I have more time in the mornings and I don't leave home angry over a bad hair day. :wink2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
