LisaFromCali 0 Posted October 24, 2008 Ok Aubrie thank you for being subtle about how fat we all are. Haha!!! Just kidding---I love that raw honesty in your post---keep it real girl, just keeping it real...
kmcoolone 0 Posted October 24, 2008 If you are unsure whether it is ketosis or lack of fluids, you can go to the pharmacy and buy strips that you hold in your urine that test for ketosis. Either way, the smell should go away soon but if it doesn't, I would go see my gyno. Kim
Daisalana 33 Posted October 31, 2008 I never had this, so my initial reaction is go to your doc and see if you have an infection. Only smell I notice is when I eat onions, it smells like onions down yonder.. heh.
*susan* 1,709 Posted October 31, 2008 I have found garlic does that too, Laura.
mica 0 Posted October 31, 2008 It's ketosis. Of course it doesn't hurt to up the Water but it's ketosis.
littlefroggy 0 Posted November 2, 2008 Being on a low carb diet can do that... is it sort of metallic? I read about that in Self or something. Add carbs to your diet at least once a week and it should keep you more "normal" smelling.
Texasgirl1966 0 Posted November 2, 2008 Thanks for all the input on the smell. I am starting my liquid diet on Tuesday, and surgery on November 18th. If this happens to me, I will know what the cause is.
~Bridgette~ 0 Posted November 2, 2008 I think it's ketosis as well. I can't brush my teeth enough to suit me! Jeez! But, it's the smell of fat going away!! :cool2: Think of it that way... fat being removed from our bodies never to return!!
Lshelley21 0 Posted November 2, 2008 yeah, i noticed a different odor as well, and it was metalic smelling. GOOD BYE FAT>....DON"T COME BACK!!!!
rodriguezequal 3 Posted November 21, 2008 Most of the time your smell and even your taste are affected by what you eat and drink. Just like in men. If they eat certain foods it makes their..."man juice" taste better...For most of us what we eat has changed a lot so that could be a big reason for your change in smell
Telecia 1 Posted November 25, 2008 sooo many things we don't realize that can effect our smells. Having just recovered from having a 10 centimeter wound close I noticed I had developed what I called a wound smell. When I had to wear the wound VAC it wasn't real noticable but the last 2 weeks without the VAC it was VERY noticable to me and my family despite daily bathing. And the smell lingered for like 2 weeks AFTER the silly thing was sealed and no longer needed bandaging. Doc said that it was normal to have a scent change and that everything we eat or drink causes effects in our smells. And told me not to worry about it keep the wound clean and it would resolve. And it did. Everything from the foods we eat (Course everyone knows onions/garlic) to the Vitamins & Medicines we take can change our smells. Certainly the ketosis caused by weight loss would do it cause the body is *Burning* off more fat cells retain allot of junk in them hormones/medicines etc. So the body going into super fat burning mode has an increased ammounts of *crap* in the system it makes sense that a portion of the gunk might be excreted in sweat/skin pores. cattoy71 0 Posted December 10, 2008 Uumm, have any of you banded ladies noticed that you now have a new female smell? I started noticing it about halfway through my pre op diet. Its really bothering me. Its embarrassing to me. I won't let my husband near me like that, well, I'm still in pain too anyway. I only notice it when I go to the bathroom, but its not just my pee. I'm 7 days post op, I wonder if it will go away. Help, am I alone? I love this thread and glad I remembered seeing it earlier! I'm about 2 months out, and am definately noticing a funky smell.....it is pretty strong and I totally agree that I don't want my hubby to get anywhere near it, lol. I honestly can't tell if I am better off with or without panty liners. If it is ketosis, I hope it passes. I drink quite a bit of Water as it is, and I have been at a little weight loss stall for the past week too. I'm pretty sure it's not an infection or bv since I recently saw my obgyn and all my tests were normal :tt1:
