Post-op diet - mushy menus please!

Recommended Posts

Did you plan ahead for your post-op diet? I mean the mushy part where you have to puree your foods. Did you puree it in advance and freeze it?

Also, could you post what were some of your "favorite" mushy meals? I used to make my own baby food for my kids when they were babies, but I'm not sure if I would want to eat that stuff as a grown up (pureed chicken and carrots, etc.) I'm hoping you guys will have better suggestions. Thanks!

My wife and I fixed lots of Soups and ran them through the blender. Luckily the mushy state does not last all that long (though it seems like forever)

Hi

I just couldn't bring my self to puree anything, so I perferd to stick to Jello, popsciles and Protein drinks. Isopure Vanial and chocolate are really pretty good and also a drink Nectra is the brand Fuzzy Navel it is delicious. And broths. I was okay with all of it. Hang in there it too will pass. Good Luck

on my mushy diet we could have oatmeal, grits, eggs, cooked vggies that you can mash with a fork, mashed potatoes, chicken and fish, plus Protein Shakes and all liquid stuff.

i ate very boring... i made egg salad, i only used yolks because to me i hated trying to get egg whites to chew to mush.

i made chicken salad in the food processor. since it was just for 2 weeks for me i kept it simple.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
