As I'm sitting here in the wee hours of the morning, I just happened to think that those of you who do not live along the Wasatch Front may not be aware of a website that the Deseret News sponsors.

Mormon Times - News and information for and about members of the LDS Church

Each week the paper has a section called Mormon Times...in addition to the Church News. The topics in Times are usually more 'casual' than the Church News. A favorite feature of mine is a column that Joseph Cannon does each week called 'The Gospel in Words". He takes a different word each week, talks about the root of the word, what it means to the world and other religions, and what it means in Gospel context.

Another possible FHE, Mrs. Flipflops...

Orson Scott Card's columns are also interesting...he likes to point out the 'inconsistencies' we have as members sometimes. He also has written about activities in his ward and stake that have been successful. He can seem very cynical at times, so don't take offense. Read his column for what you enjoy and ignore the rest.

So, we meet again, do we? What dastardly deed brings you to this place?

And, thank you for doing so...we both need the boost, right?

I seem to have lost my way in lap band life and need the support of others who know the joys of PBing in a cup in your minivan because you just HAD to try one of the kid's french fries.....

Yup, that's a dastardly deed, alright!

You're on the right track, though. And you're going to be fine...because you need to help me be fine!

No one quite understands situations like that except other bandsters!

I've noticed, as I hovered around the same weight for the last few weeks, I needed a kick in the butt, so I'm trying to be better about coming to LBT and reading motivating posts. :)

I've had a wild week with my band. I was unfilled last month and refilled Tuesday, lost 8 lbs in 72 hours and went back in today to have some of the fill taken out.

Thank you Choromom for litening to my endless whining and analyzing minute amounts of saline, lol.

The world is a better place because of Choromom. :rolleyes2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
