I went with Dr. Aguila out of Tampa Memorial Hospital. Price wasn't too bad....definitely worth it to change your life. He was awesome and his staff is very supportive. They hold support meetings once a month, have a personal trainer that gives you ideas and that you can book if you want to. I think we get 3 free sessions with him. They are very hands-on with their patients. Plus you have to go see him once a month so he can make sure you are doing OK. I am soooo happy I went with him!!!

It was around $16,000. But over half of that was the hospital fee. I can't remember the exact breakdown. That includes a years worth of follow-up, plus all the fills you need in the first year, plus the support groups, plus 2 weeks of opti-fast. They also calculated the psych eval into the price.

My insurance paid for it so I didn't have any costs. But I believe it is pretty much the same as other places...15 to 16 thousand. I do know they do financing...you'd have to go to a seminar to get more information, or call the office.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
