They did have all the groups (days and times) listed on their website. I know the one I have gone to is for those that have been banded as well as those thinking about it or waiting to have it done. Seems to be a well rounded group--no pun intended! LOL...... If you like that kind of thing, I would suggest coming. For me it helps me stay motivated even though I have a strong support network at home and at work. Good luck on your appointment Monday. I KNOW how exciting it is to be going and getting the ball rolling........

I will look it up! When were you banded and how is it going? :huh2:

 I was banded February 5, 2009. I am doing GREAT!! I feel great and I have so much more energy. I am very happy with my decision to have the surgery, no regrets what-so-ever (except I wish I had done it sooner). I am very pleased with the weight loss so far, I walk and/or do my Wii fit every day. WOW!! What a difference just a few weeks can make. Have you had a chance to look the meetings up yet on the web site? Ann

How are you all doing? I havent seen any more posts since March on here. I have my first meeting for my evaluation this week. Wish me luck! What tests did you all have to have done besides the psych eval and nutritionist part before they submitted to insurance for approval?

I am so scared but ready to do this. Scared of the approval process! I am 40 bmi with no comorbidities really...

Take care,

Tory~:(

Hey there Tory! Welcome to the journey of a lifetime!! Yes, I totally understand about being scared, it's a BIG decision, mental as well as physical....but soooo worth it all. :) In addition to the two tests you mentioned, I had to have a stress test and sonogram of my heart (not had any problems with my heart, guess they were just concerned). Anyway, passed all those with flying colors and have not looked back. I continue to exercise most EVERY day. Hardley ever do the same thing two days in a row just so I don't get bored. I still find that I have a problem with "portion distortion", I really have to monitor myself with that one. I wish you luck with the approval process....but, you will be fine! Best wishes, Ann :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
