How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

Recommended Posts

33 lbs is nothing to sneeze at! You can't compare yourself to others; it'll drive you crazy. We're all different and we lose at our own pace. Just stick with it and the weight will give way.

Hey guys....I am not very happy about my weight loss so far. I had my surgery on the 22nd of July. Now I am down from an 18/20 pants to a 16 (in most jeans). So I know that I'm losing, but its just so slow. I went to the Dr. yesterday thinking I needed a fill b/c my scales say I haven't lost any weight since the beginning of November, but when they weighed my I had lost 3.5 lbs. But.....I'm still discouraged when I see how much all of you have lost. Of course when they saw that I had lost weight they wouldn't give me a fill so I was a little dissapointed. I know I should make heathier choices....but I can go 5 hrs. before eating again. Does the pouch diet really work? Any suggestions?

I have lost the same amount that you have, and also feel discouraged because it is so slow. Congrats on the 3.5 though, at least it's better than nothing.

We all get in those moods ladies but it to will pass, as soon as you have your next victory you'll be shouting from the roof tops. trust me it comes and goes. Keep your spirits up because we all know what depression can do to us. And sunshine, you are the one that made me feel better the last time I was feeling that way with the comparing the photos of where I started and where I am now.

If you compare yourselves to others here you are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you compare the percentage of excess weight lost you have lost more than many of us. Many of us that have many more pounds to lose than you have a higher basal metabolic rate which means that our bodies require more calories to carry out basic body functions, therefore we have a higher calorie deficit that results in more rapid weight loss. If your ticker is up to date you have nearly lost 50% of your excess body weight in 4 months which is excellent.

Thanks Charlene and Kimaly. It is so good to see the scale moving down. I'm so motivated, I think I'll actually start back on the treadmill.

I gained 2 pounds over the Thanksgiving holiday so I'm going to try to work that off this week.

I hate my treadmill or better yet, my treadmill hates me. I'd rather walk my dog but it's getting to cold for that so I guess I better start making friends with it.

I had surgery on July 3rd, 2008. I am down 80 lb from that date. I just got back from vacation at Disney World and for the first time I did not do so well with my eating. I am trying real hard not to beat myself up about it. I did not gain any weight but I sure didn't lose either. I am having a difficult time understanding how many fills I'm suppose to have and exactly what the sweet spot is. I still get very hungry in between meals. I am also having a HUGE problem in telling myself when to quit eating & understanding when I am full. Does anyone understand what I'm saying or what I'm going thru? Any advise would be very helpful.

Wow! What a faboo weight loss! You lost 80lbs in 5 1/2 months! How can you justify beating yourself up? There is no limit to the number of fills you are supposed to have - you get filled when you feel you need it based on the amount of solid food you can ingest.

I don't think we will ever get that "full" feeling again after being banded like we did before. But before being banded, for me I didn't feel full until I was nearly exploding so I probably didn't understand full before either. My doc says, stop eating when you are no longer hungry (not when you are full). He says if you chew thoroughly (at least 20 times per bite) and stop eating after 20 minutes, then your feeling of hunger should go away. These days, more often than not, after 10 minutes of eating, I lose interest in the food and stop.

Well, today is my 6 month mark, and I have lost 41lbs to date. I wish it was going faster, but I have lost 25% of the weight I need to, to get to goal. I guess that is something. I am going to post pics today on our progress pics thread. I hope you all are doing well too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
