You will have to ask your doctor. I have seen different people get different rules on this. Mine has me come in once a month for the first year so he can ask questions and determine whether I need a fill but if in between those visits, I feel I need an adjustment I can make an appointment after waiting one week.

I was given less than a cc for my first time, i really haven't noticed any difference. She tells us to come back whenever we feel hungry. I think i will see about another fill. I got my first one july 8th. I read somewhere that it sometimes makes a difference after 2 wks. But i didn't.. Did you get any swelling in the port area after/? Mine was really swollen, i wondered if it really went in???

I got my first fill last Thursday and up until now I was sure I would need to go back early for another. But nearly a week later I am now finally noticing a difference today.

I could only eat half of my typical Breakfast this morning yet here I am about an hour and a half past my usual lunch time and I am still not hungry...and I have a cup of chili here that I am so looking forward to for lunch.

Hope this is a sign that my fill has kicked in!!!

I just had my first fill today. I had to wait 6 weeks post-op before my first fill and started feeling hungry only after 2 wks post op. I was in 'bandster hell' for the longest time! For my doc, the standard 1st fill was 4cc but I asked if he can give me more since I've had no problems w/ food or eating (my appetite was the same as before). He injected 4cc then left the needle in so that I can drink some Water. I had no problem drinking the water. He then put in another 1cc, still no problem keeping the water down. Finally, he put in another 1cc, as soon as I swallowed the water I could feel like I really needed to burp but could not. My band holds a max of 12 cc so I'm already half way there. I feel good so far aside from feeling like I really want to burp but cant. I've read somewhere that it takes a wk or two for you to feel the restriction, so I hope that it won't be too tight next week. Doc told me that if I feel no restriction I can come back in 4-6 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
