protien drink in the mornings

Recommended Posts

I have a really hard time getting my twins, teenager, and myself feed in the mornings. Last school year, I would have a low carb slim fast. My husband did not think this was a good idea. By the end of the school year, I quit and tried taking cottage cheese and chicken chunks. I sometimes had the time to eat it when my students had their Breakfast break. Is a low carb slim fast ok, or is there a better product out there that I should be taking? Or do I try harder at finding a different food source?

I either do a Carnation Instant Breakfast or an EAS AdvantEdge Protein Shake for breakfast. I am not a breakfast person and since I got the band even more so. My doctor doesn't want bandsters to drink their calories because food does keep us fuller in the long run, but it is what is working for me. Do what you need to do.

I do a Protein Bar in the mornings. I find it hard to eat eggs and the such but on my way to work I eat a Protein bar. Keeps me full for hours and I get the needed boost in the morning. Hope this helps

I use a Protein shake powder that I get from Walmart, its called

"Body Fortress Super Advanced whey Protein"

Its only 100 calories for 1 scoop and gives an extra 26 grams of Protein with only 3 grams of carbs....it also has a lot of other fun stuff we need! I typically mix it with 1/2 cup of skim milk and 1/2 cup of Water (so I dont add to many carbs or calories)

I have to wake up at 0430 am for work so I usually make it the night before in a shaker drink container so I can just grab it on my way out the door. I do find I like it better when it sits pre-made over night rather than when I make it and drink it right away. (I think it has time to dissolve better and doesn't taste gritty)

It is pretty inexpensive too...$13 and it lasts about a month!

Where do you find the Fage yogurt?? I have heard people mention it in the past but have not been able to find it!

Trader Joe's and Whole Foods Market is where I get it.

I used to use the "Body Fortress" powder from Walmart. I found it wouldn't dissolve properly, just like you did. I switched to EAS. Yep, it's twice the price, but I think it's worth the money. I'm not saying that you should switch also. I'm just saying that I think "Body Fortress" is an inferior brand of whey Protein.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
