I am post op 5 days. I experienced a lot of what you are going through early on. I started taking lactaid with every "meal", gas-ex every night and I am walking all the time. I have found that the only way to really alleviate the pain is to walk. Also make sure you are not drinking too fast. I hope this helps.

Take it easy on the treadmill. I too walked on the treadmill, but only 1-2 minutes a day (if that) until I felt the gas going away. If you feel the pain is not from the port healing, call your dr. It's better to be safe that sorry. Good Luck!!

Hang in there, Choppie; it will get better. I sure felt discomfort more on my left side than anyplace else. You can comfort yourself that it is probably not appendix because the appendix is on the right side and it is very unusual for it to be anywhere else. Call your doctor; this is just the kind of question that they can answer and give you some peace of mind. You'll be o.k.

Hi, I am one week post opt. I had my surgery the same day as you. I havent experienced any pain like yours, but i did have a lil gas. I would suggest you walk and take some priolsec. My surgeon is also out of New York, Dr. Bessler out of Columbia Pres. He has prescribed me liquid codene which really help me thru my pain. My pain alleviated on the third day, and I am doing great! I didn't have a burning sensation, but I did have pain in my chest and I soon realized it was gas. I didnt take my gas medicine because as I went for a walk it went away. Try walking at a slow pace and when u get home drink some peppermint tea(very slow) and see if that helps you. I hope you feel better!

I am a post op patient for 3 years with a revision done approximately 2 years ago after the band slipped. I went through a lot of what your going through. Make sure you follow your diet closely, don't drink with your meals. The first 4-6 months after surgery are the hardest and you will have all kinds of new pains. Call your doctor and ask the staff, trust me you aren't the only one with the same problems. I don't regret at all having the surgery, it gave me my life back and I lost over 100#s. Good luck!

Really, your band won't slip at this point. Slipped bands come from too much fill and throwing up constantly.

I am sure you will feel a little better every day. I am glad you are seeing your dr. wed. . You should ask every question you have. You could start writing them down if you're afraid you'll forget to ask something.

You would know if your band slipped. At this stage in the game for you it is not anything for you to worry about. If you begin to throw up after eating which did happen to me because of the position of the band initially, then worry. A slipped band caused me to have a lot of pain, because I had a small hernia and it was pressing on it, I thought I was having a heart attack. I saw my surgeon immediately and they did surgery right away to reposition it. I am a rare case. Even with everything that happened I don't regret a moment.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
