Pressure pain in upper rib area and 11months post surgery

Recommended Posts

Does anyone remember having any pressure on pain in the upper rib area months after surgery. I'm 11 months post and have been noticing this lately especially sitting. It's not chest pain but lower. Was wondering if it could be a stretched pouch or something.

Anyway if anyone else has dealt with this I'd appreciate it as I don't see my surgeon for another month. Thanks Nanook.

Is it in the left side right up under the bottom of your ribcage? Like in your stomach? Because I'm 10 months out and that's what I've been experiencing. Several months ago I had this same pain and the doctor said I wasn't cutting up my pills small enough and the pouch was irritated. So I started cutting them really small and the pain went away.

I had a fill and was way too tight and throwing up everything so got a partial unfill. Then I didn't have enough restriction so went in for a little bit of a fill. Not long after that fill I started having the pain again and along with it I have a feeling of something being in my throat all the time. I don't get stuck or throw up but I have great restriction so I'm completely frustrated by the pain and lump in the throat feeling.

I've got an appointment to have another partial unfill Friday. :) So I'll see if that helps. Maybe it's just because I'm too tight but I'm scared it's erosion or a slip or something.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
