Whew...thank God for the folks that take care of EOD! Not that every MOS isn't hugely important...but EOD is definitely not one that most folks would ever choose. At least you'll have one heck of a brave man backing you up

It sounds like we are all lucky to have been who love us and accept us as we are/will be. I'm going this route for the healthier, more active, longer life reasoning rather than physical attractiveness. In fact, I'm worried that my cute face is going to deflate and I just won't be as approachable as the cuddly, warm-hearted-looking lady I look like now.

*lol* Yea, I'm partial to the EOD MOS, I can't lie. We're getting out of the Army before the end of the year, and he's going to look for a job doing it in the civilian world - they tend to come in handy. :tt2:

My husband is just worried about my butt going. *lol* He said I could lose it everywher else, but leave the butt. But I agree on look like the cuddly lady thing - I like that persona in people.

Sorry you had a not-so-pleasant experience at S&W. What you may think about Paulette as being 'cold', I feel is, she is just very blunt. She tells it like it is. She's already "been there and done that" and is simply trying to get us to learn from her mistakes. I have found everyone to be very caring and interested in my success.

Which one is Paulette? *lol*

I know, she can't help it.

I'm worrying about blood clots, dying on the table, it being botched for some reason, ect. But i'm assuming that that is pretty normal for first timers of anything.

Yea, we're also going to ask for the RXs before hand becuase the wait at the base pharmacy can take hours.

How lonog did your surgery take?

Melissa

Don't worry at all about that stuff. There isn't anything you could do to stop it anyway. They'll give you the slip for the scripts on your pre-op surg evaluation day. Remember to shop around to see if you can beat CVS's price on the Fragmin.

I was the first for the day and showed up at 6:30 AM, went in at 8:15, and woke up around 10:15, that I can remember. I was home at 1:00 PM.

I'm 2 and 1/2 weeks post op, in 0 pain, no restriction yet, and have no problems with most solid food. First fill is 8/14, which will be interesting.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
