Military Wife 0 Posted July 20, 2008 Hello All, I am new to this and desperately want to have this surgery. I have been approved by my insurance to see a Surgeon. However, either the potential Doctor does not accept my insurance, is an out of network provider or is not within the hospital network, ugh. Has anyone else had so many roadblocks before they even started? That you in advance for your advice!
Desdemona 48 Posted July 20, 2008 The company I work for is located in another state from where my main home is. This summer I wanted to see an MD outside the usual network for my insurance co. I called the ins com to see if there was anyone at all within a reaonable distance. They did have the name of someone but as I as talking with the woman from the insurance company she told me that whenever their isn't anyone in the network within 40 miles from where I live they will attempt to locate a professional within the 40 mile range and make a deal with them to treat me. I was very surprized. I thought it might come in handy in the future. So try calling your insurance co to see if there is anything they can do to arrange your evaluation and treatment with someone near you who is out of network. Good luck. mom2twins 0 Posted July 21, 2008 With Tricare Prime you can request an out of network provider if they don't have a network provider within a 60 mile range. Call and check to see what your options are.
Military Wife 0 Posted July 21, 2008 Thank you both for your replies! I did find out that an out of network provider is available to me, but ironically enough all of the Doctors I spoke with don't accept my insurance, go figure. So, I continue in my search. Thanks again to both of you for your helpful replies!
