rearea1222 0 Posted July 20, 2008 Hi! I go for my very first fill this wednesday and I have a question about my diet BEFORE the fill. I don't remember my doctor saying anything, should I eat like I am now before the fill or should I be on liquids before I get it? If I have something in my stomach, will it effect the band when they fill it? My appt is after lunch so I just wanted to see how all that is going to work. Thanks for any insight! Fernando 0 Posted July 21, 2008 I did liquids the day of on my own... but dr puts his patients on 2 days liquid, 2 days mushies, 2 days soft foods, then real food again... I did the same thing I did for my pre-op... 5 Atkins shakes a day plus Water... It helped get me jump started again... I had been stalled for a week... then 3 lbs in one week!! yay... and now im to real food for the first time since my surgery... Pork loin was GREAT!!
rxdspncr 0 Posted July 25, 2008 this is very interesting! My doctor never told me what to do. The dietician said 2 days of liquid and then 2 days of mushies and then back to normal foods. She never said to start that morning. I specifically ate some string cheese immediately before going in for my fill that afternoon so I wouldn't be too hungry. I even told my surgeon when I got there and he chuckled. Didn't seem to think it was an issue. Go figure!
kerryconner 0 Posted July 25, 2008 My doc. says nothing to eat 3 hours before fill and no ice cold liquids 1 hour prior to fill. Then after, Clear Liquids for 24 hours, soft liquids for 24 hrs. then introduce solids.
gina s. 0 Posted July 28, 2008 That's what I was told to do after a fill also....24 hours of liquids, 24 hours of mushies and then back to solids. I was never told what to do before the fill.

Rachel I was just getting on to post the same question. My first fill is Thursday (ahhh...:wink2:...quite nervous) and I didn't know what to eat before. I may call tomorrow to find out what they say. I know I'm on liquids for 24 hours, then mushies for 48. Thanks for the insight everyone!
rxdspncr 0 Posted July 30, 2008 I asked my dietician today at our support group and she said that I could eat something about 2 hours before the fill, and that was because the food should be digested in 2 hours. Whew! Just in time! I go for my 2nd fill in the morning at 9am!
