I'm scared to eat because I'm terrified that I will stretch my pouch and cause band slippage. It's a bit weired to be afraid to eat. Does anyone else have this fear?

Are you still on liquids DonnaT280? I was banded the day after you and I am on full liquids until next Thursday. I was told to concentrate on drinking three Protein shakes a daily with 20 grams of Protein each. I was also told to take a sip or two every 3-5 min., so it takes about 30 min. to drink each one. I also sip Water or crystal lite the rest of the day. There is no way you could stretch your pouch by doing this! I really can't even look at food yet. But, I'm sure that will change soon!

Hang in there!

I am 3 weeks post-op - can eat real food - feel guilty after I eat even if I eat what I am supposed to - I am paranoid my band is slipped because I feel no restriction most of the time - my first fill isn't until August 11. I also feel the fear of eating - so worried I went through this surgery and won't lose weight.

My Dr. said liquids for just 24-48 hours. Now on soft mushy food for the next 3 weeks. No meat except fish. I'm hungry all the time but I'm pysched about losing 8.5 pounds in 4 days. That's never happened before on any diet. I began eating Tomato Soup with a bit of fish and mashed potatos smashed in (MRS Dash for seasoning) and it was incredibly good but it took me 20 minutes to eat 1 cup because i chewed and chewed the fish until there literally was nothing left to swallow. The whole time I was eating, I was afraid.

A good friend of mine was afriad to eat also and the doctor didn't like that at all. Well a long story short, the doctor ended up taking her band. Your band can also slip from you not eating....

Me, too.. i am now a bit scared to eat .. i am 6 days post op. i ate a bit of watermelon Friday evening thinking it would be ok on a full liquid diet. DON'T TRY IT! Caused horrible gas pain (that gas-x did not help) and then diarrhea. It lasted almost 24 hours. I still have some pain in my left side.

I'm on "mushies" and really am careful about what I eat. I am SO afraid of vomiting that I am following my doctors orders (nutritionist) to a "T". I use mydailyplate.com and enter in every thing I eat. I think the most calories I've had in one day was 700...but I'm not feeling hungry. I am struggling with being 'regular'. I get my first fill on August 13 and we'll see how that goes. Good luck to you.

I'm also in Richmond, Va. I was banded a few days ago. My doc has me on full liquids for a full week. I tried to slip in some cream of potato Soup (I blended the potatoes) but i stopped because I don't want to slip this band. I can honestly say that this full liquid time is teaching me to recognize when my stomach is full and when I just feel like I haven't eaten a while and think I need to eat.

So far so good, though.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
