Ok, so it's now less than a month until I am banded. I am really excited that I am finally having this done. I had been wanting this done for about 4 or 5 years now, but never had it done because I saw no use in it being with my ex-hubby. Now I have a wonderful hubsand and wonderful children and I'm ready to get my life back on track.

Only thing is, I'm really nervous about this surgery. I have had several surgeries in my life and I can only remember 1 time I was this nervous and I was only about 15 or 16 at the time. So, if there is anyone out there that can help me settle these butterflies in my stomach about blood clots and all the other stuff the doctors have to warn you about before you have the surgery, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks:scared2:

My nerves are on high too. My surgery is a week from Monday. I had surgery when I was 2 yrs old to repair closed tear ducts & a lazy eye, but I don't recall anything. As an adult, this is the first operation I've ever had under anesthia. The biggest fear I have is not waking up, or something going wrong during surgery. The anxiety is driving me crazy. How did everyone cope with pre-op strategies to get you through surgery?

yeah, my main worry also is not waking up once I go under. I have 4 kids and a hubsand that I love and adore. Now that my personal life is finally moving foward, I don't want to leave it all behind. ERRRR...someone help me with this. Calm me down, plz.

You just have to keep reminding yourself you have chosen the safest WLS around. The rate of mortality is super low, way better than with bypass. And look to the future and all the positive changes you are going to experiance. I try to keep it positive or I would totally talk myself out of it. Gonna be banded 8/8/08:thumbup:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
