Hi Choopie! It shouldn't be much longer. Keep moving/walking as much as you can. That will help work it out.

Take Care,

Aimee

HI. i also had my surgery on monday and what helped me get rid of it was walking slowly, doing my incentive spirometer (deep breathing exercise)and doing the shoulder rolls that they taught you in elementary during P.E. Hope this helps you.

WALK, WALK, WALK. It really is the only thing that will help. I know you don't feel like it. My gas pain was pretty bad too, and I did not want to move, let alone walk, but the more you move the better it will be. A couple of other things that helped me. Use a heating pad, and have someone massage your back and shoulders. Also, my husband would "pat" my back, like burping a baby. All seemed to help, but the walking did more good than anything. Good luck, and Congratulatons. Every day is a little better.

Hi All,

I am new to this forum. I am 8 days post-op from my banding. I had it done in CT. Like choopie, I had a lot of gas and chest pain. It is just now getting better. Walking did help, especially when I could feel a big gas bubble coming up. Having only full liquids to eat did not help at all. I never thought I would be so excited for pureed mush! AFter reading some of the messages on these forums, I am so afraid of PB'ing (had to look it up and see what it meant). Any advice on how to prevent or deal with that when I start on solids?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
