Self_Pay_Ready 0 Posted July 19, 2008 I really need this surgery. But my gp has not been able to track my weight ever, cause his scale doesn't go past 300. Psychiatrist has been watching for 4 months though, and has it documented. I have access to be able to pay cash if medicare won't pay. If I'm paying cash, will things go faster, smoother? What I mean is, will I still have to have all the comorbitities and perfect mental health... I have bipolar. Anyone? Please reply. Thanks.
JamieNP 20 Posted July 19, 2008 Hi Nashvegas!! Your doctor can document if you are morbidly obese. Also as far as being Bipolar, your psy doc could write a referral for you saying that you are mentally stable enough for the surgery.
CMTurner 0 Posted July 19, 2008 Just have your GP notate that they have been unable to weigh you as scales have a 300 lb weight limit. That was in the instruction for my GP when completing the 6 month weight loss attempt. I would definately try to get insurance approval prior to going self pay. Just think of all the nice, new, smaller clothes you could buy with the money you would save. Good luck in your weight loss journey.
