Less than 100 pounds to lose

Recommended Posts

I have less than 100 pounds to lose, comorbidities not that bad, Dr. won't recommend the lapband to my insurance. My insurance doesn't cover it anyway. I wonder if I am taking too drastic of a step making a fairly permanent change to my body and lifestyle. Does anyone else feel like this?

Well it really depends on how much weight you are wanting to lose and how much difficulty you've had in the past with losing weight and keeping it off. The way I look at it is that even if you only have like 50lbs to lose, the lap band is something that will stay in you for the rest of your life (if there aren't any complications where you must take it out).. and it is something that will help you to maintain your ideal body weight throughout your entire life. Regardless of how much inital weight you need to lose, unless of course its like 20lbs or something, I say its a great investment in your health and future. You just may not need as much restriction as someone who say has 200lbs to lose.

Lapbandmexico:

I also believe it has a lot to do with everything you've tried in the past. I have about 50-60lbs. I would like to lose. At first, I thought lapband was too drastic for me. I've done the strict diet thing and I exercise on average 4-5x/wk doing a lot of running/cardio/weights/etc. I have not been successful at losing weight on my own. So, I look at the lapband as a tool to help me along my journey. I think it just depends on your past experiences and how you feel in general. Everyone is different. I would definitely tell you to do your "research" as it definitely isn't a "quick fix". Good luck to you, whatever road you may choose.

My wife and I both were banded on 4/25. Both of us are in our 40's and had less than 100lbs to lose. Over the years those extra 60-80lbs added up to type 2 diabetes for her and elevated blood pressure and bad knees/ankles for me. The lap band is working very well for the two of us.

Back when I only had 30 lbs to loose I went on a diet and ended up with 40+ lbs to loose. I dieted again and ended up with 50+. The story goes on (like for many of us) and thanks to the yo-yo effect I now have around 80 lbs to loose. I figure why wait until I have 100+ lbs to loose. I'm ready to make these changes now and I see the lap band as a tool to help me deal with the hungry feelings that always get me. I'm fine with eating healthy I just can't stand being hungry and that ends up being my down fall.

Keep researching and good luck with your decision.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
