OK so I wrote in here about 2 weeks ago. I was on the table ready for surgery when my Dr. looked at my chart and saw I gained 8lbs back from the 17 I had lost and cancelled my surgery. I was then schedule to see another Dr in her clinic to help with diet. He put me on a liquid diet allowing me 2 salads a day telling me he wanted me to have about 900 calories a day. I have been doing a shake for Breakfast then about a cup of salad for lunch and a couple pieces of turkey then I someday's have a 1/2 cup of veggies in afternoon to get me to dinner then I have a small salad and meat for dinner. I realize this isn't the diet he put me on but after doing research found more people lose weight on a low carb diet then anything else. I have been walking around 2 miles a day. I have not lost any weight and don't know what to do. I see him on the 29th. I am eating less calories then he suggested and still nothing. Any suggestion to lose another 10lbs by the 29th???? Please help

If you really want to lose weight do what the dr. Advised you to do. You're doing it the way you want and obviously it's not working for you. Thats why we need the lapband cause hat we have been doing is not working for us.

I have read out here in the forum that if your caloric intake is too low, you won't lose weight. The body is very efficient at protecting itself from starvation. Keep up the walking, but try to follow the prescribed diet too. I would also suggest a big activity day once in a while if you are up to it, like walking farther or a different type of exercise that may give your body a jolt. Using a pedometer helps a lot, I know that if I have 10,000+ step days, the weight will drop off. Good luck.

Try the four low carb shakes and one low carb yogurt every day and you will loose the ten pounds. Its not just the pounds but the shrinking of the liver so they can get to the stomach. I lost quite a bit once I did this.

I had to lose 10 pounds in one week on my pre-op diet. My doctor insisted I could do it by having 4 MediFast drinks a day plus one Lean Cuisine or equivalent for dinner. It just wasn't working for me. So I switched from the Lean Cuisines to a low carb dinner, and I cut back to three of the MediFast drinks a day. A comparable drink you can buy in the store is EAS Protein Drinks. So I had the 3 drinks a day and for dinner every night I had one broiled chicken breast and half a cup of green Beans. And that's it. And I lost the weight I needed to lose. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
