hopefulmom25 0 Posted July 18, 2008 I haven't had my first fill yet, but I have restriction and a very "sensitive" band. I have to chew my food to a liquid consistency, because I've had things get stuck a few times (major ouch). Pre-band I used to looooooove cooked mushrooms in and on everything (pizza, quesadillas, etc). Since I've been on solids, I've tried to eat them and I just can't chew them up until they disintegrate. It's almost like bubblegum. I chew and chew and chew, and it breaks into pieces but never dissolves. Same thing for other fresh vegetables and the skins on lots of fruits. I tried to eat grapes yesterday, and the inside of the grapes chewed up just fine and went down, but the grape skin just would not dissolve. Am I going to have to give up fresh fruits and vegetables forever? Anyone else had this issue?
Nancy33 0 Posted July 19, 2008 Sorry, mushrooms are a thing of the past for me, too. But like my teenagers say they really don't have a whole lot of taste anyway. At least thats what I am telling myself.
Blaze21 5 Posted July 21, 2008 I love my portabella mushrooms. I hope it won't be a problem for me.
Chrisann 0 Posted July 21, 2008 I am not having difficulties with mushrooms if I cut them up very small, like you are cutting them up for a toddler to eat. Everyones band is different. Me, I can't eat chicken at all. But can eat Pork chops and steak. I eat fruit and veggies too, just cut things up really small and peel any tough skin. I also juice the veggies and fruit in my juicer when I am tight and not getting them down. But all things are now in moderation. I peel a grapefruit and section it, and can only eat half. Strawberries-3 max sliced. Mushrooms as you mentioned, when sauteed, 4 medium sized ones, sliced. Stuffed, the way my mom stuffs them, I can eat 5 of them, cut in small pieces. However, can't eat any other food for a few hours after that, so I make sure I had enough Protein earlier if I go that route.
HeatherO 7 Posted July 21, 2008 I am ok as long as they are cut up small to begin with. I dice them before cooking them. I can eat fruits without a problem.
