Hey all...I've been banded now for about 7 weeks. Here is my problem. I had a slight acne problem years ago, mostly they were like heat bumps under my skin, and they itched a little.. I tried many things, and I found Proactiv to work wonders, and have been using it for about 5 years. My heat bumps/acne was finally under control (sounds so cliche' I know, lol, but it's true). My skin was so soft & bump free!

Okay, so about a week or so after my surgery, I started getting a little bit of the heat bumps again on my face, around my forehead, around my jaw line, very mild. Well, as of today, it's really bad. They're really tiny bumps all over my face, and they itch too! I've talked to my Nutritionist about it, and she said she's never heard of it being related to the surgery or diet change.

So has anyone who's been banded had this problem? I'm so stressed out about it. I have lost 35 lbs now, but I feel ugly because of my face. I haven't changed my soaps, deodorant, perfume, make up or anything. I'm not stressed, I physically feel better than I have in a long time. I don't have allergies, nothing like that. I thought it was my make up sponges, brushes, etc., so I bought all new ones, and that didn't help.

My diet of course has changed drastically since the band, no sugars, breads, Pasta, low fats, and high Protein. I always thought those things should break out your face, I just can't figure out why it's doing it now, I'm healthier darn it!

Okay, enough of me rambling. Oh, and I've seen a Dermatologist, they gave me samples that just made my skin dry itch more and I'm not doing that again. Plus, it was expensive. So, if you have any ideas or have experienced this, please help me! Thanks for reading...

It might be roseaca. I have that and I have the bumpy kind - the other is brokem caperlliaries under the skin. My bumps are mainly near my jaw line and some on the cheeks. It comes out in teams of stress and I could literally scratch my face off. I have a special soap and metrogel that I use. Metrogel will calm the inflammation and redness. the sulfer soap reduces the bacteria on my face (yikes) Good Luck in determing what this is.

Good Luck on your weight loss!

Hey Tonya,

I was having the same exact issue.... but what i have started to do is to use the mask every 3-days and even sleep with it on my face not on my entire face but like on my forehead and my jawline also... i was getting pissed off because i am a fine azz chick...lol.. and how in the hell can I loose all of this weight and my face be jacked up..... and also i bought some baby wipes fragrance free so when my face gets oily i just take a wipe and clean my face thru out the say and this helps and does wonders for me... Girl that is all of the bad crap trying to get out of your body... thats like when u shave under your arms everything is nice and smooth but when the hair starts to grow back u may get a few bumps and they might hurt because the hair is trying to poke thru the skin and it aint strong enough to poke thru... that is just like your face.. the oil is trying to get out and u are prob. not cleaning your face enough... so get some wipes and let me know how this works... and I have highly sensitive skin so when the proactive worked for me i was truly happy... u will be ok.. keep me poste...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
