Looking for a buddy!

Recommended Posts

I am 53 years old and was banded November 19, 2007. I have lost 80 pounds but am not moving past that. I exercise regularly (5-6 days/week) and eat a very healthy diet. I've done really well but have about another 120-130 pounds to take off. The weight loss was moving really fast at first but now I'm stuck. If anyone can offer any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks very much.

Lisa

 Hi Lisa,

I know what you are going through I was banded in 2005. Lost 70lbs the first year and then got stuck. Fill unfill fill unfill a vicious cycle. Then last sept I was in a car wreck and since then have gained 30lbs back. I threw away all my fat clothes so I'm reall uncomfortalbe. Right now my band is so tight if I eat more than three bites I throw-up. But I'm still gaining. I am planning on going back to the gym this week. I will have to go slow I broke my neck and back in several places. I have soft tissue damage that is the worst. So slow I will go. I'm 42 in november and I have 100lbs to go. I will cheer you on if you will cheer me on.

your new buddy

Amy

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
