What will you look like at 6 months AKA your 6-month goals

Recommended Posts

We kind of hit on this a bit on another thread but I thought it would be good to have one just for our 6-month goals. So if you have a specific goal or just a general one, let us all know.

I'll post mine again - I want to lose 100 pounds total by 8-18-08. There's also a pair of pants that I'd like to fit into. It's close so hopefully they will go on.

hey great thread idea,

thanks for the encouragement about excercise....i'm getting there..i hope gardening counts for something, because right now all our spare time is spent harvesting and freezing or excess veggies....i still have some time at work that i can spend on excercise.....so thanks for the reminder.

i am so excited i am halfway to my goal..105 lbs total...with 51lbs gone already! At 6 months i want to be out of Morbid obesity range for my BMI. I also want to be wearing a size 20.

I am so thankful for this forum and my band

I'm so jealous! Fresh veggies! I tried to grow a few things this year but it's so hard to keep them alive here. The heat just beats em down.

Well I had hoped to have a 100 pound weight loss by 6 months, but I am still 19 lbs away and don't see that happening by the 14th. So I will settle for getting out of these size 16s and into 14s by then. I am close, they will go on and zip but they don't look very good yet.

I know I for one would love to fit into this really cute royal blue skirt with black embroidered hems. Size 14!! I can fit into it and zip it up… but it still isn’t ready for outside wear. Still too tight, but ten pounds or so and I’m there.

I have until August 12th to do it!! Let’s do it Febbies!!

BTW… Can you hardly believe it has already almost been six months?? Amazing!

PS: Ezma, that would put me at 100 lbs. lost too!! Let's get it done hon!

Wow! 14s?!!! You must be really tall. I'm only 29 pounds heavier than you and I'm psyched I can fit into 26s now. Sadly I carry almost all of my weight in my gut. My legs are pretty skinny though.

Ahhhhh 6 months from my surgery date 25 days from today . . .

I would like to be solidly into size 16 Misses (right now I am in size 16W pants and skirts)

I would also like to be down at least 75 lbs (today I am at -70)

We have all done so well. Keep up the good work and we'll all be at our goals before we know it.

Since I was banded at the end of Feb. I still have a month and 4 days to go until I hit my 6 months.. My goal from the beginning was to average 10 lbs a month or close to that. So, by the time my 6 month anniversary comes around I'll be happy to have lost 60 lbs or close to it. I'm at a plateau right now and haven't lost anymore, but that's ok. At 50 lbs loss, I"m right on target and happy with where I am.

I've been naughty so I deserve it.. I had a small chocolate banana blizzard this weekend and some chips and salsa and nacho's.. OH NO.. I'm going to hell now.. hee hee.. I don't care, it was good and my punishment was a nice bubbled up sunburn! boy did it teach me a lesson!

So, I'm back on target now.. hey, it was a mini-vacation.. I'm allowed :-) So anyway, that is my hope for August 25th... to be at 60 lbs loss....

Nope, I’m only 5’6.25” I aft wonder if maybe most of my extra weight is because I workout plenty. I have a lot of muscle definition and I think it shows on the scale. I’ve always been heavier than the average in my size as well.

The last time I wore this size I as anywhere from 225 to 230 Lbs. Even that was much heavier than the average.

I never could figure out why that is… I don’t have a clue how I’ll ever make goal, I still need to lose 89 lbs. according to my bmi charts.

Yeah, I'm thinking your goal is a bit low too. You'd have to get down to -3 Zeros - LOL Bet you're very right about the muscle mass. You should try one of the other methods of getting BMI, like the pinchers or the thing you squeeze.

Well - reading this almost makes me depressed. Everyone is talking about losing 60 - 100 pounds and I am soooooo far from that.

Anyway, my goal for my 6 month mark is to be in Onederland - I started at 241, and it would give me about a 40 pound weight loss in 6 months. Right now I'm 212.

I'm struggling right now because after being way too tight and getting an unfill, I now have ZERO restriction (next appt Aug 16th, right at my 6th month mark). I haven't lost anything in 6 weeks - the longer this plateau lasts, the more off track I feel like I'm getting. Surely, this weight has to break sometime soon!

But, I'm trying to stay positive and eat good foods and workout. And, I leave for a 2 week vacation to Colorado to go hiking on Aug 1st - I can't wait. Surely all the hiking will help with the weight.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
