Question - Scared...

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I had my surgery on June 25'th but he did not tighten it yet. That happens on July 27'th. I have been following the guide, no not really... I have been doing Protein Drinks every day so far. I dont know really what to eat and I am running out of Protein drinks and those things we're massivly expensive... 1 month of them is 600 dollars! Since I have not been tightened yet my hunger is still there kicking my ass but I have been on protein drinks for 1 month pre opt and from the 25'th of june to the 17'th of july. I have about 4 days of them left and my tightening is in 10 days. I am scared and dont know what to do/eat.

I really want to skip the pureed(spelling?) part and am trying to do so... After my first tightening what will my diet consist of? Seem's I am just healing my wounds right now.

Let me get this straight...the only thing you've had has been protien drinks? Ok, did the doctor or nutritionist give you any kind of plan? Here is how my plan went:

Days 1-4 clear liquid (Isopure, popcicles, Jello, broth)

Days 5-14 liquids (yogurt, pudding, cream Soups, cream of wheat (made soupy) mashed potatos (made soupy) etc.

Days 14-21 pureed (tuna, applesauce, chicken etc) I pretty much stuck to pureed Soups and tuna

Days 22-28 mushie food (refried Beans, eggs, )

Days 28 and on transition to regular food

Now as days progressed you could still eat the things you had prior. By your first fill you should be eating regular food. Eating your protien first, then veggies, then carbs. You should be getting at least 60-100 grams of protien in. Your body can only absorb around 25 grams of protien at at time so your shakes or protien drinks should only be a filler or like a meal on the go (at least that's how I do it). I hope this helps you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
