Hi, Rae. I was banded on May 31st, so we are almost band sisters, lol. I just had my first fill yesterday. I received 2.5 ccs in my 10 cc band. I don't feel much restriction at all, but my fill doctor is very aggressive and told me to give it a couple of weeks and if I still didn't think it was enough, he would give me another fill. He also turned me onto the Fat Flush Plan and I am planning on starting it next week, as soon as we get back from vacation. I am anxious to get started. I have only lost about 6 pounds so far, but that is going to change very soon!

oh gosh, I kinda feel bad because I am in a negative mood about my bad. Not to mention my insomnia. I just wrote a blog about how things have been going. But it isn't very up lifting. Feel free to check it out under the blog heading. It's called, I hate to be a negative nancy but...

Honestly I still have some hope that the email I just sent will reach my doctor and that he will let me come back in for another fill this week. Maybe then I will get this weight loss thing started! I wish you the best of luck and it seems for the most part people do well. I think I am just a freak of nature, and therefore not the best person to get info from.

Hey Rae,

from what i see here you have only been banded a little over a month.. don get discouraged yet...It takes multiple fills before you reach that sweet spot to where you are losing wieght..

In the meantime think of these things

-how much am i eating?

-do i drink with my meals? (at least wait and hour after meals to drink)

-hows my excercise?

-am i making healthy food choices?

-Am i eating protien first?

-Do i get my daily recommended serving of Water?

-Do i only eat when i am hungry?

-Do i listen to my band when it says stop?

-Am i grazing between meals?snacking?

These things are all very important to being successful with the band..

I am 16mths post-op and still find myself going back to the main guidelines when i hit that plateau..

Best of luck to you..

as far as the fat flush diet i have never heard of it.. and was curious to see what it is as well..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
