dwrd73 0 Posted July 17, 2008 My wife is also going through the process of getting the band. She is a type one diabetic and is concerned about hitting a low and not being able to eat or drink what she needs to in order to get her blood sugar levels back up. In the past she generally drinks a couple juice boxes and she is shortly back to normal. We were told after surgery it will take 30 minutes to drink 8 oz. of Water. She is concerned she will not be able to get the sugar she needs fast enough when she hits a low. Also, she is not on a pump. Are there any other type one diabetics with the band out there? What do you do when you hit a low?
asimmons 1 Posted July 17, 2008 I am a Type 2 Diabetic and I always carry the glucose tablets with me. Since they melt in your melt there should be no problem with them dissolving. Check with your dr and see what he says. Anne
