Hollins2003 0 Posted July 17, 2008 Hi, I have the same band you do and am about fifteen days post-op. So far, I have not had a thing get stuck (I am back on regular foods now). I am very careful with what I eat. I tend to stick to marinated chicken, turkey, and veggies that are soft. I have restriction right now, but I am guessing that is from swelling from surgery. I am due for a fill on August 21st; however, I am not completly sure that will happen. My surgeon will only fill if your weight loss has stalled...so, we'll have to see. Hope this information helps! Great2BThin 5 Posted July 17, 2008 I do! During surgery, I guess the surgeon was having trouble fastening the 10cc band, so switched to the 14cc but then it was too big. So he put 4cc prefill in it. When I got my fill on Monday they said they were treating me like I had the 10cc and giving a fill based on that. Not sure I understood it all, but anyway I got a 3cc fill so have a total of 7ccs in it. I never got anything stuck til my fill. I think I had such little restriction before that I got careless in my bite sizes. Now I have to be really sure to chew chew chew. I took my Calcium pill this am and it got stuck for about 5 min. I've heard folks say they have to cut those in half and think I might have to. Since my fill I have lost 2 more pounds!! In a way I was glad at first for the stuck feeling, because then I felt like I really had the band and it was working, but I don't look forward to it happening again! Presto 0 Posted July 17, 2008 I also have a 14cc band. My dr prefilled during surgery w/ 3cc. I was feeling hungry and not really restricted so I had my 1st fill yesterday, 7/16. They tried to add 4 more cc's but that didn't work so they removed 1cc and that was still too tight. In the end I wound up only w/ 3.8cc's total. I guess I was a lot more restricted then I thought. I think I still have to figure out what is actually hunger and what is head hunger. I too stick w/ chicken, scrambled eggs and soft veggies. I don't want things to get stuck. I wish you continued success.
The Fireman 1 Posted July 20, 2008 I have the same band you do .I eat pretty much anything I want except a whole lot less than I used to .I have 6 cc in mine I started to feel some real restriction after I got 4cc in.I also had a 10 cc band but it made my stomach swell and seal it off and I returned to surgery after 7 days to take it off and reinstall a 14cc one. SpecialK 22 Posted July 20, 2008 I have a 14 cc band and I have 6 cc's as of my 2nd fill and I'm heading in for my 3rd fill this Thursday. I'm at 4 months post op. I have some restriction but not enough because I still can eat a bigger portion than I should be able to. The only thing I've had a significant feeling of stuck on was chicken when I tried to push it and eat more out at a restaurant beyond when I had that full pressure feeling come on. If you go that one more bite, then you can feel it.
nip50 2 Posted July 20, 2008 I have 6 cc's in a 14 cc band with 3 fills, and I can't imagine having another fill. I don't think the size of the band has much to do with getting stuck. I think it depends more on how big of bites you take, how well you chew, how fast you eat, and the amount of restriction you have. If I am careful, I can eat just about anything I want. When it comes to my medications I do have to take them individually where I didn't have to before.
divaofsongs 42 Posted August 10, 2008 I have the 14cc band since Dec 13, 2007 and I love it. I get stuck sometimes, it just depends on what I am trying to eat, how big the bites are and how fast I eat. Generally, if I eat slow, take tiny bites, and chew extremely well, I can eat just about anything. I did not have issues eating anything until my last fill which brought me to a total of 10.25cc's, that was a "wake up and smell the coffee, you have restriction" awakening. I had no idea my body could produce that sort of slime. I felt like I was in a horror movie until I learned to slow down, take small bites and chew well.
