Is it o.k. to sleep on your side??

Recommended Posts

I just got banded today and I forgot to ask if it is o.k. to sleep on my side, does anyone know?

I think whatever is comfortable for you, is fine. I had no problems laying on my couch or sleeping in my bed the first night after surgery, but the only way I could lay on my side for the first week or two, was if I had a big pillow to lean on, to cushion the pressure pain I felt at the port site. I really think your own body is your guide on this one.

I'm two months past surgery now and I don't feel a thing when I lay flat on my stomach.

My doc said it was one of those things that had to do with your comfort level, I was on my side by night 2. If it doesn't hurt you it won't hurt your band either. :)

Oddly enough, I was more comfortable sleeping on the side my port is on for several days after surgery. Now I sleep more comfortably on the opposite side or my stomach, which is what I prefer.

Just do what feels comfortable to you. There is no right or wrong way to sleep.< /p>

Hope you get some rest.

Stephanie

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
