akmawmaw 0 Posted July 16, 2008 I had surgery over a year ago, but recently I have started gurgling really bad. It is not a stomach growl, but gurgling from my throat. Does this happen with anyone else? Do you know what causes this? It is embarrassing because I have no control and others can hear it. HELP! Please let me know if you have ideas or comments. Danikagold 0 Posted July 16, 2008 My nurse lady said it is a stomach spasm. If you are like me it happens during or after eating, or drinking Water (I say water bc we don't really drink anything else, lol). It is crazy isn't it? Nurse lady said, eat or drink slower becuase constant spasms could mean the band is too tight. It is kind of a signal to me to slow down. =) best of luck. goofygirl883 0 Posted July 16, 2008 I only gurgle when my esophagus is inflammed. I have had really bad reflux disease for years and the band made it worse so gurgling is common for me. It's not a good sign but it happens. I have to stay away from garlic, onions, peppers and spicy foods (which sux) to keep it calmer. Also if I forget to chew well it will aggravate it. Keeping a log/journal and taking stomach meds helps.
akmawmaw 0 Posted July 16, 2008 Thanks for responding. Your explanation makes since because I love spicy food, but it has been burning my stomach lately. Is there anything in particular that you do to sooth your inflamed esophagus?
bandster_1007 1 Posted July 16, 2008 my doctor says that it is just air coming up from the food or Water that you have just swallowed. they say it is perfectly normal

mrsgriffin2u 1 Posted July 17, 2008 I just had my surgery July 2nd and I've had that problem since day 3! I have it with Water, Protein, and now any mushies that I eat. Trust me, I eat/drink real slow and it doesn't seem to help. I also have one big hiccup and then I feel all better... weird! My mom (who came into town to help me recover) makes fun of me and says it's just like having to burp a baby. Makes sense I guess... I'm eating like a baby! Hope it gets better for you, but it seems like this may be sticking with me for awhile!
