People! Leave my stuff ALONE

Recommended Posts

Okay...I came in this morning to find my tape dispenser gone.

I know I'm just ADMIN, but c'mon. I can order you one. I can go out and buy you one. THIS IS MY DESK. LEAVE IT ALONE.

It's my personal tape dispenser...it's pretty...it has my name on it. It's not YOURS. Don't take it.

Same goes to the guy (and we all know who you are) who eats other people's food from the fridge...DID YOU BRING IT IN??? NO? THEN LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!

I make 1/2 what the "professionals" make...why are they taking MY stuff????

For the last couple of years I've been working as a contract attorney on cases where firms know they're going to need extra help and so hire on extra attorneys on a temporary basis. It's grunge work and lots of starting at a computer screen trying to decipher spreadsheets, but it pays the bills for now. I thought before I began this work, and after a few years of practice out there in the world, that a person had to be relatively smart and have at least basic social skills in order to become a lawyer. I was wrong. A few of the more memorable incidents:

There was a guy who sat next to me who picked his nose and ate it. Out in the open. While singing along with his headphones. And playing solitaire all day.

There was someone (never figured out who) who regularly peed in the corner of the men's bathroom. We called it "On Golden Pond."

There was a woman who wiped feces all over the stall of one of the women's bathrooms. Twice.

There was someone who ate half of my friend's lunch out of the refrigerator, then put the container back exactly where he found it.

The moral of the story is: there are some messed-up people out there, and we've all got to work with them.

All I can say is: Ew.

We have a lady who continually misses the seat and drops some sort of powder all over the floor.

There are also a few who don't wash their hands. I toyed with the idea of putting up a sign, but my boss said HR would frown on it.

So, people are gross, suck and have no manners and we have to be PC about it.

Damn.

I used to work in a call center and you would be HORRIFIED if you knew half the stuff that went on in a place that big with people there at all times of the day.

We had someone we called "Poo-casso" who would draw pictures on the wall in the bathroom with their feces....

Oh we had a guy at work that always took other peoples lunches. Actually,he usually took my best friend's. (Her father was a chef and she had some Yummy lunches)

We decided to get some revenge. She brought in some Pasta dish her father made and we crushed about 10 Exlax into it and mixed it in. She put it in the fridge and we went to out to lunch. When we got back we were in hysterics watching this man RUN from his cubicle to the bathroom over and over and over. He learned his lesson. LOL!

I worked in an office that we had 3 separate shifts, 1st and 2nd shift then those of us that worked an 'off shift' to cover lunches and breaks for the other two shifts. Now, those that were on set shifts (the "normal" 8hr people) shared there cubical with the ones that worked the second shift. But those of us on the "off shift" didn't share our desks (for obvious reasons). Well, our new batch of employees had some real morons and I was constantly shifting one fella out of my desk letting him know that he is supposed to take a desk of a day shifter NOT a off shifter. He had broken into my drawer a few times (its bloody locked you fricken moron don't pop the lock like a common thief) and would take things out of it and never put them back. Our floor supervisor would never do anything about it, so one day I decided I had had enough and locked down my computer to where when I came in one of my co-workers was under my desk trying to figure out why it wouldn't come on.

Needless to say, don't mess with tech support cause we know how to make your life hell and after 3 seconds I got my station back up and running, my co-worker was laughing his ass off when he realized why I did it. Needless to say that new kid didn't last long, its hard to get fired from a union job but the moron managed it.

Wow....individually people can be sooo great. But, also gross and rude.

I have to wonder, if we have people like this among us, then how did we manage to discover fire?

My Dad once had the problem at work of people eating things out of the fridge that wasn't theirs.

Being a hunter, the next time he was out scouting elk, he picked up a bag full of deer droppings, and he and a friend melted chocolate chips, and mixed them, made them look like peanut clusters. Put them in a baggie in the fridge marked " DO NOT EAT!!!!!"----VERY quickly they found out who was snitching food from the fridge!!!

He said he had heard of someone else doing it is what give him the idea.....guess the vice presidents secretary had not read about it.....it was her that was into everything. He might have protected her Dad said if he had not been a victim himself!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
