Insurance questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all :tongue_smilie:

I called my insurance again just to make sure I understood everything. At first, I thought I was going to have to make an appointment with my primary care physician to refer me to have the Lap band; however, luckily I called and they said all I would have to do basically to get an authorization is to have the surgeon call, which sounds divine to me. :tt1: So, I go to the seminar on the 23rd. I am guessing by what the receptioniost at the doctor's office said from there they will call the insurance. So, for those of you whose insurance worked like this, how long after the seminar did you find out if you had been approved?

Thank you,

Paulette

My insurance worked almost the exact same way; except, I had to have the initial appointment with the surgeon instead of the general inservice. After the initial appointment I was approved in less than a week. It took just enough time for the paperwork to be gathered and everything sent in. Good luck to you!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
