Hi, I feel exactly like you do. I was banded October 23, 2007 and lost 80 pounds as of August, 2008. All of a sudden I couldn't keep anything down, so the doctor took out 2 cc's. Well, I went crazy because I had been hungry for so long. I'm really having a hard time getting back on track. I've had 2 small fills, but still want to eat the easy stuff; ice cream especially. I feel like I'm going right back to my old habits. I was exercising a lot and now it's so hard to do, if at all.

I'm so down on myself because my family back in Texas was so proud of my weight loss and they're coming to Tennessee for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I've gained 25 pounds since August!! I really need an attitute adjustment!! I don't know what to do.

Hi guys,

This is a hard time, heading into the holidays...I know I want to snack, eat, snack, eat, etc. (and not necessarily in that order).

I've made the following goals for myself during this holiday period, hope it works:

1) Drink ALL my Water (if not more)

2) Do ONE good thing for myself every day (veggies, fruit? )

3) Exercise at LEAST 3X a week (am going to shoot for 5)

4) Journal what I eat (regardless of what goes into my mouth) every day, at least M-F

Small goals, but a start. Anyone want to join me?

-Becky

ok, i haven't logged my food yet, but i am going to start trying to do the quote of the day again, so here goes:

"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome."

I don't know what my deal is, but it seems like I keep sabatoging myself. Why, I have no idea!!! I'm in a wedding for a friend in 3 weeks and I was really hoping to shed at least 5 more lbs. by then.

I still can't figure out how eating 3 ice cream sandwiches last night is going to help me reach that goal.

I'm wondering if that falls under the category of 'doing something good for myself every day'. I somehow think not. I believe my intention was to ABSTAIN from doing things like that.

Thank GOD I'm getting a fill next week (yes, right before Thanksgiving...crazy, eh?). Maybe that will help my stupid head hunger!!

Good luck bandster! We CAN do this, we just have to concentrate on it. Keep our focus and do the old mind over matter thing...:D

Keep me posted how you're doing.

...that is too ironic..i'm in a wedding in 3 weeks too...on the 29th..and i'm getting a fill just a couple of days before thanksgiving...the 26th

if we all made the right decisions...we wouldn't need the lap band to begin with.

I feel your pain.. i have gained 12 lbs back in about 6 months... I know i don't make the best choices... but I just eat what will stay down at this point.. the band isn't too tight... i am very upset with myself i thought i would be closer to my goal a year afterwards!

Don't be too hard on yourself, I think most everyone has struggled during this holiday period. I know I really wanted to be less than where I am now. I'm up 8 lbs. from when I last posted on here, so I'm struggling too.

Let's ramp up for the New Year and make it a point to get back on track!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
