Does everyone feel nervous at the beginning??

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for my finial visit with Doctor Stanish on july 29.

The closer the date comes the more apprehensive I get, and Doubts sometimes come up.

I just wish i did NOt have to wait so long for the apointment.

But I am also getting Excited and can not wait to get Started.

I live in St. John Indiana. So if you live near bye and want to get together to help each other get through the tough times drop me a line.

Tom

Hey BiggT, went through that part already now i'm just anxious, surgery date 7/22 just wish this next 6 days would hurry up and go by. Not that i can afford to lose 6 days at my age but i'm really ready to go. good luck to you.

You are not alone in those feelings. It's all very natural. While I know it seems like an eternity before the surgery, I encourage you to use this time to prepare mentally and emotionally for the changes you are about to make. Good luck!

Oh yes I was nervous when I started inquiring about it and as surgery day drew nearer I got more and more nervous. When I was in pre-op I was more tempted than you could imagine to just jump up and run out of the hospital as fast as I could, hospital gown and all.

But I can tell you when it was all done, I just thought "What was I so nervous about?". It was so much easier than I imagined and so very worth it.

I was sooo nervous and some of the negative responses I had received were floating around in my head like "it's so drastic" and I remember thinking "what am I doing? should I really be doing this?" Then I remembered what my MD said. He said none of the complications that could occur are life threatening but that the diabetes and high blood pressure that were around the corner are. He also said that if I could lose the weight on my own that wouldn't I have done it already. After the surgery and I was in pain I remember thinking "what have I done to myself?" The pain goes away quicker than you think and I can say now it is all TOTALLY worth it. I feel better, look better, and am much more confident. Be patient it is not easy or quick but completely worthit!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
