Are you focusing on Protein at your meals? It will keep that feeling of satisfaction longer. oatmeal or something similar makes me very hungry later in the day because it is so carb heavy.

And, I'm sorry, but you need to cut the snacking out. The band WILL let you graze all day. You're effectively eating around it.

I agree. The band is a tool, not the answer in itself.

My routine is:

  • Breakfast - never miss it, usually oats with milk.
  • lunch - usually Soup.
  • Evening meal - what the rest of the family has, but I'm very aware of Portion Control. I eat slowly, chew everything. I never go back for seconds.
  • drinks - tea/coffee/water as required. I drink extra amounts of Water.
  • I eat bananas (max 2 a day) and apples after meals.

I don't feel hungry on that and my body has got used to the smaller amounts of food. My family are also very supportive - they never say things like 'is that all you're having?'

I'm certainly not saying that you should follow my routine, just that it works for me. I don't graze and I'm never hungry. I have recently gone to 5cc in a 10cc band. I exercise 6 days a week for about 45 minutes a day.

I still think you ought to see a dietician. Where abouts are you in England?

Yes, try a Protein Drink first thing in the morning. Caffeine can actually make you more hungry, so cut back on that. You might have 1 sweet cake a week as a treat to yourself for following your dietary rules. Another important food to watch out for is carbs. Those add up fast, also make you hungry, drive your insulin levels crazy and put on weight gain. I try to stay under 40 grams of carbs a day. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
