Any Suffolk County Long Island NY fill centers

Recommended Posts

I am exploring the option of going outside the states or at least NY to have my LB surgery done but do not find too many fill centers here.

Does anyone know of a Lap Band Fill center in Western Suffolk County L.I. New York or anywhere on Long Island?

Actually I live in small RI, and thought that there were no fill centers near me. My Dr.'s office in Mexico told me that there is a great fill center in Long Island-if I want to drive to NY. She also told me that there is 1 in Boston, MA, but they get some complaints on that 1. You can go to Fillcentersusa.com to find the fill center closest to you by zip code or state. You can also call around to your local Lap Band surgeons and see if they will fill you. That is what I ended up doing and it is cheaper then using Fill Centers USA. Everyone was telling me that it would be difficult to find a Dr. willing to fill me if I got my surgery done in Mexico, but I called one of the best RI surgeons and his office told me that he would do my fills (even if I go to MX). I'm being banded 7/24/08. I hope this helps you! Good luck.

thanks gettin...and good news about your upcoming surgery! Exciting! Glad you found a local fill center. Where in MX are you getting the surgery done?

There is onlly 1 fill center on LI that someone here directed me to in Levittown. I was surprised there weren't more but I will take your advice about calling the surgeons in the area..

Yeah try to call around...what could it hurt. I'm going to Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana, MX. It is $7950 and includes the stay for 3 days at Lucerna hotel. I did lots of research, and it came down to him or Dr. Rumbaut. I decided on Ortiz for a few small reasons, like money and location, etc... They are both highly qualified though.

Just found out my regular Doctor: Dr. Roberta Bianco on Rt. 111 in Smithtown will be training in September to be a fill doctor for Fill Center USA! I was afraid to tell her I was getting the lap band but she said she deals with lap band patients all the time so much so that she decided to do fills! Wonder how much experience a doc needs to be "good" at it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
