Choppie - Your surgery is Monday, my friend, Virginiaann and Penturn are Tuesday. I am Wednesday. PDX Bandster is Friday. We need to follow each other along. Good Bless to each of you.

Yes, let's do. My 43rd birthday is this Thursday, and I feel like this is the best gift possible----a brand new chance at llife. God bless you all.

WOW !

I just joined several days ago and I'm very very impressed with the informed and supportive answers from everyone.

I'm waiting for my Dr.'s office to open so I can reply to the nurse who e-mailed me over the weekend (yes - WEEKEND!).

It'll be my first contact with the surgical practice and hopefully the start of my "New Beginning"

As far as the anesthesia -

I also had 2 knee and 1 dental procedures last year and absolutely LOVED the anesthesia.

Yes - there is a one professional (usually a doctor) who is attentive ONLY to your anesthesia process.

Breath purposely to relax - inhale thru nose and exhale thru mouth - and think pleasant thoughts (envision ocean waves or a pleasant memory - NOT a brownie sundae)

:smile2:

It's really quite a pleasant drifting into sleep.

I can't wait until it's MY TURN!

I'm having surgery Friday and the anesthesia is my BIGGEST concern. But I've talked to so many people and it's been very reassuring.

My sister was telling me that the anesthesiologist just sits there the whole time to watch YOU. Every vital sign is monitored. You simply go to sleep and wake up banded :smile2: They are there to make sure you are completely taken care of.

We'll both be fine :) Let us know how it goes!

I agree that you should be comforted knowing that the anesthesiologists ONLY job is to take care of you! Probably the most important thing that you can do to help them do an excellent job is to be VERY honest with them when you pre-op. Tell them EVERYTHING you take, whether it's legal or not, or "natural" such as Vitamins or herbs...absolutely everything. They are trained to watch for conflicts and can choose the best drugs for your surgery if they know the whole story.

I hope that you rest easier and know that we are all supporting you!

I to am getting banded tomorrow and I am nervous about being put to sleep. I have been put to sleep before but this time them are putting something in me instead on taking something out. My other fear is my liver won't be small enough. I have lost 35lbs over the past 6months. I lost 5 in the past 4 four days. That is my biggest fear. Good Luck to everyone that is getting banded this week. This is our month for freedom from fat.

Oh my goodness!

Look at your approval date and your surgery date!

I just started my Quest on Friday, spoke to the coordinator less than an hour ago, 1st info is in 2 weeks and I want this done yesterday!

Good luck on your surgeries every one.

"Perception is Reality"

Positive and pleasant thoughts to all!

When I had shoulder surgery a few years ago, my anesthesiologist was a young smarta$$ with a terrible bedside manner.

But one of his comments really stuck with me:

You have a greater chance of a bad outcome from the DRIVE TO THE HOSPITAL than from the ANESTHESIA. Are you planning on walking to the hospital?!?!??!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
