  1. 1. Are you completely happy with your lap band

    • Wished I would have did it sooner?
    • Best decision I have ever made
    • Still in the not sure stage
    • Get this thing out of me

Would you if given the opportunity do this surgery again.. Is it all that you expected? Do you feel better now or worse

I'm so happy I did it! I do wish I would have done it sooner, but the bottom line is that I wasn't ready for it until now. I feel fantastic! I've lost 50 pounds, and I still have a ways to go. But, my back doesn't bother me anymore and I have so much more energy. I finally put myself first, and I'm glad I did.

Funny, but I asked this at a Lap-Band support group of 17 people a few weeks ago and they all looked at me like I was nuts. Not one person said they'd go back and change it. Not one.

I love my band! I wish I could have had it sooner, but it wasn't to be. I'm down 35+ lbs, off my blood pressure medications, and feeling wonderful. Most of all, I have hope for the future...a healthy future.

Love the lap band. Wish I could have done it sooner, but insurance wasn't covering it until 2007, then had to do 6 month diet. Banded on March 4 and down 75 lbs. Love the band and would never be without it. I have started telling people I have had it if they ask about the loss. Love the band!

I'm in the what the hell did I do to myself phase right now. Of course I was only banded on Wednesday. I was doing okay with the liquids until today when I started to crave Pasta. I have to be on liquids until I see the doctor on the 24th. It seems so far away. But the bottom line is, I will make this work and I am happy I did it (I will be happier once I move on to pureed foods though).

ok, so yes, i'm still in the "honeymoon" phase with my band. BUT i love this new way of life!! i never thought i'd see these scale numbers ever again. my band is the tool that was missing from my equation. everything so far has been pretty easy to adjust to; just took some days to get used to certain things, but all wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be.

this is the best thing i could have ever done for myself...

I had my surgery July 2nd and I can now say that I'm very happy with my decision. I have to admit that for the first week and a half I asked myself, "What the hell did I do"? But as of night 10 post-op, I was finally able to get some sleep (was able to sleep on my sides and tummy). When you are getting your correct amount of sleep, you can think clearer. I've been on the liquid diet for 1 week pre-op and still 2 weeks post-op and that can make you a bit nuts but I just keep on thinking that it's not forever and real food is just a few days away. The nice thing also is to see those numbers go down on the scale. Since I started the 1 week liquid pre=op diiet, I've lost 21 pounds (that's in 2 1/2 weeks). THAT is what it's all about and I'm so happy I have my Lapband!

Hi Slim2Be,

I had my surgery on July 11th...everything went smooth until last night and this morning when I started with the dry heaves. Did you experience this and what did you do to make it better?

I love my band! I could not loose weight on my own no matter what I did. I have bad days, but would not trade it for anything.:cursing:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
