numbness & stinging

Had surgery April 25 and everything going well and healed up well. Since surgery have a numb spot just to the right and below the bellybutton. Today there is stinging in that area at just certain times like when I stand up suddenly and sometimes for no reason at all. It's a sharp stinging and doesn't last long. Thought I'd ask if anyone has had this problem before I call the doctor.

I had the smae problem but above my belly button.. it could be 1 of two things.. It could be a twisted nerve that is trying untwist.. or it could be stitches inside streching a bit. belive me it goes away. unlike the numbness in my leg OUCH!! hehehe

Thanks. I just wondered since my port is above and to the left of my bellybutton and the numbness and stinging is below and to the left.

Yeah my port is actually under my left breast and my pain was down about a inch and over to the right about 2 inches... im thinking its the stitches though. I was banded 3 days after you. mine has gone away but sometimes at night I get that pain. And when I rub it, it is still tender to the touch. Maybe someone else will have a better idea.. Thats just what I think and what I have dealt with. Take Care

While this may be comparing apples to oranges (since I haven't even had my band yet) Several years ago, I had a large lump removed from my breast and had the same sort of numbness, tingling, stinging and eventually what felt like short volts of electricity. The shocks and stings I had were not in the exact area of the incision so I knew it wasn't that.

My surgeon said it was nerves regenerating. This strange feeling lasted (off and on) for several months to a year before it completely stopped.

So, while it is just a guess, I would think you could be having the same thing.

Thanks! The nerves regenerating makes sense to me. I'm not going to worry about it anymore.

Judy, they do a lot of probing around in there. I had weird little aches and pains for some time. One area would stop, then another would bug me. But they eventually all went away. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
