Sex after the LapBand

Recommended Posts

:embaressed_smile:Well I have a question and I can not make myself ask it face to face with my doc and hisstaff. So here goes..:)

Things can get a little rough sometimes in the bedroom and I wondered if there were things I should avoid so that it does not put my port in danger.:embaressed_smile: Even witgh my weight having increased, I have remined pretty limber ( cough) well dh and I are both worried that things may not be as fun as they were before. Thanks.

well, we're all so different. dh and i waited for one week, most postitions were great...but a couple were not. just try it, and if you feel any discomfort, stop, and try something else. you really should ask your doc, just ask about sex in general, you don't have to get into details.

Things if anything have become BETTER in the sack for me and my DH!

Like posted above, there were certain positions and styles that we had to go without for a little due to discomfort, but I am 9 months post op and we are right back to where we were before! I can relate to the "Roughage" and it took us a little while (Maybe 2 months - heeling time) to get back to it!

The way I see it, If I have to okay to go to the gym and have a hard workout including but not limited to Crunches, weight training and yoga (for increased flexibility WOOOHOOO!) from the doc, then a good night or morning, or afternoon romp would be similar!

If you do talk to your doc let me know what s/he says, I'm curious too!:(

Well I am 6 months out and I can do anything to my body I did before...according to my DR...lol yes I asked. The port and band is super secure. Kick boxing is not going to damage the port...So If one can take a kick directly to the port any sex you have is not going to hurt it either...He told me you should not have any pain from sex due to the port.

No Problems here! I"m pretty feisty. I admit that for a few weeks after the surgery I wasn't quite as rambuctious, but all's well now. You might want to wait awhile on handstands or certain Karma Sutra positons :smile2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
