I have like a film over the incision is that what it is ? i am going crazy with the itching too. I put cold packs. i can text my surgeon in the am and ask if i can remove the clear film. i tried benadryl and it puts me to sleep. i cannot take it all day long

I have the same clear film over my incisions. Just last night they started itching. I rubbed my belly gently allllll night (didnt scratch but definitely rubbed a lot). I woke up and out of the blue every one of my incisions had a reddened area around them like infection. I took an antihistamine and it helped dull the itch but I can’t decide if I’m having an allergic reaction to the clear stuff or an infection? I’m 8 days post op. Pain has improved immensely since surgery. How long did your itching last? Did you have any redness?

I religiously itch after a skin injury. My tattoos itched to hell when healing, and so do my incisions when I've had surgery. I was itchy a solid two weeks. It's totally a healing thing.

I took antihistamines and carefully applied a scent free lotion around the incisions and tried to distract myself. It's normal, but so very irritating! I'm also mildly allergic to bandage adhesive, so I suspect that added to how long I was itchy for.

Short answer - I feel you!

Thanks!! I hope it’s just that. I took Benadryl at bedtime last night and it definitely helped the itching but the redness is still there. I’m going to call my surgeon this morning just to be safe because of course it’s Friday and don’t want to have to go to the ED on the weekend if the redness gets worse.

I’m 4 days post op and my incisions itched on day 2 and continue. My surgeon used surgical glue, but I think it’s normal itching and not a reaction. My prescribed promethazine helps and once the glue comes off, I plan to use a medical grade silicon bandage to help with scarring. I’ve use it before on incisions and it works great for me.

I saw the nurse at my surgeon’s office. It definitely is an allergic reaction. I’ve peeled off a lot of the adhesive surrounding the incision but will try to remove the stuff that’s on the forming “scab”. She said to try that in the shower. I’m just worried I’ll pull the scab off and the incision will open. Ugh.

I am 18 days post op and got a severe rash around my incisions that spread to my legs. I was told to peel the glue off after 7 days and got put on a steroid pack and cream and was told to keep using cortisone cream. It calmed down but it definitely comes and goes. Not sure if it's the shirt material that makes it worse.

My daughter has used Mederma quick dry oil and had great success with reducing scarring. My surgery is not until 4/12 but I am getting some for the scars and stretch marks.< /p>

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
