2nd fill and really confused

Recommended Posts

ok last wednesday july 2 I had my first fill my Dr put in 5cc, when I could finally eat i ate like no tomorrow so I called the Dr office this wednesday and got in for a fill again, ok what I am confussed about and my Dr did not explain it to me and now he has left and we will have a new Dr So anyway, he stated that he put in 2 more so I said to him I have 7cc in he said no that I only had 2cc in to begin with, but I told him that I started out with 5cc. he blow me off and said the only thing that I need to know is that I have 2 more in then I had so now I have a total of 4cc in my band. Ok, so my question is what happened to the other 3 cc of Fluid in my band that I had? The nurse at the office said that sometime in a new fill they loose fluid? Has anyone heard of such a thing? This is driving me crazy. Do I have a leak in my band? I think I am at my sweet spot right now but I am really confused about my fill. Can so one help a blonde who is new to the lap band world and has a Dr that has left town to go to a new hospital and is unable to ask the new Dr cause he will not be around until next week. Sorry so long

I would ask the doctors office for a copy of your records and the reports should have the amount of fills. I would wonder about the amounts also.

I second the advice to call you doctor's office to request your records and/or get as nurse to clarify this. I think maybe there is some misunderstanding as I find it hard to believe he'd fill 5cc - may fill up to 5 ccs ??? I know I had 2.5 in at surgery, then 1.5 for my first fill to bring me to 4. I've had 2 more fills now at 1.0 cc each, so I'm at 6.0 currently (& hopefully nearing the sweet spot!!!). I also know that each time before a fill, they actually extract all the Fluid to measure to ensure no leaks. Again, knowledge is power & I'd either get with a nurse at the Dr.'s office or get a copy of the records yourself. Best of luck & let us know how it goes

Be happy that your doc left town. He is supposed to make sure you understand and know everything about your fills and how much he is putting in. It doesn't sound right that he would put in 5cc at one time. Try not to worry and start fresh with you new doc. They should extract the saline before they do a fill so they can let you know how much Fluid you had before they add any more.

He should have clarified it for you. I asked my doctor about how people say over time they lose a portion of their fill level. The answer was that you can lose some but over a very long time period, 6 months to a year and the volume would be very miniscule. It happens so infrequently it is really not something to worry about.

It almost sounds as if your doctor just didn't bother to look it up and just blew you off. Your records should show. When you go in for your next fill, tell the new doctor you want him to check the Fluid levels before giving another fill.

When I went in for my first and only fill so far I asked the nurse who did the procedure how much Fluid I had in my band. She took it all out and said I had 5cc's in a 14cc band. She then put the 5cc's back in and added 2 1/4cc's.

It's your body. Your health. Demand answers.

Also on the "loosing" the Fluid during a fill, I could see that happening when they take out what you have and they might not put it all back in. I've heard they take it out before a fill so they can make sure you're not leaking.

You said something that caught my attention. You feel as though you're at your sweet spot. Just like the scale, don't let the number of cc's you have in your band dictate how restricted you feel. If you've found a great spot to be at after two fills - rock on with your badself!!

it just depends the Fluid doesn't always come back out cause it gets stuck in the tubes. My first fill i had 4 ccs already in and they put in 3ccs that makes 7 right at the second fill they pulled out 6 and put but in 2 so that makes 8 right or 9 cause there is a cc floating around 1 week later i needed alittle pulled out and i was back down to 7 but i felt like i had 10 so i hope this makes sense. It gets stuck or lost and no one really knows where it goes or why it doesn't come out but it doesnt and some how still finds its way to the band its self.

I posted eariler and just got back from my FIRST fill this morning. I don't know what to expect and the nurse said that she does 5cc with the first fill for Realize band. She had me lay down shot of numb stuff and stick of the fill needle. Move to sitting position and she puts in full 5cc . Drink about 6-8 ounces of Water and asks how it feels, I think maybe it stuck, she pulls out .04cc and I can feel the the water shoot through. I was amazed. Drank water again felt full but not like first time. She then says I'm good to go. Lasted about 5 minutes total. So now I have 4.6 in the 10 realize band. I can't believe how quick and painless it was. Now I hope it works..

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
