Leak in my band..WHAT IS ALLERGAN RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what they are truly liable for? Ive heard they are responsible for replacing my band? It was placed in May 2005 and I have also heard that I signed all kinds of waivers and such that said these were the kinds of complications we all signed up for the possibility of . I dont have my original paperwork. do any of you have it? Waiting for my Dr to get an answer from Allergan about replacing my band is like waiting a lifetime.. i had NO IDEA how much i really relied on this band and how much i took it for granted for that mattered. I thought it would always be there and would always be working.. the emotional distress this has caused is almost worse than my band not working...this has devastated me. I'm tired of hearing my Dr's office tell me "now is the time for you to implement all of the things you have learned over the last three years about proper eating" well, you know what?? i knew those things twenty years ago and if those things worked for me, i wouldnt have needed a band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

any info would be greatly appreciated!

It depends on where the leak is and what caused it. Most leaks are from the port or tubing and that is usually caused by the doc poking a hole in it.

If your doctor has ever used anything but a huber needle to enter your port, your warranty is void.

Have you had a fill under fluoro to see specifically where the leak is coming from?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
