Well if I cant get the procedure done while i'm out of school whats the likely hood of having the surgery done and going back to school in 4 days? I am pretty reslient with the right ammount of drugs in me hah. jk, but c'mon for those who've had c-sections you have your baby, then 2 or 3 days later you are getting up and down all night and holding your baby walking around ect, and the c-section has to be much more painful, right? thats a doozy of an area stapled up. So yes or no, 4 days post op, walking around doing hair at cosmetology school, yay or nay?

When I first started reading your post I thought it would be possible since I've read over people having the surgery on a Friday and returing to work a couple of days later. When I got to the part of you being a cosmetology student, I thought no way. Surgery makes you feel tired and having to deal with patrons and doing hair will make you feel muscles in places you didn't know you had. BTW, I went to cosmetology school when I was younger so I know what you will be up against.

hmm my teachers can be very understanding, if i say i need a few days to rest, can i go in the back class room and work on my maniquinn they would probably say okay thats fine, just as long as i'm working on my services. We had a girl who was pregnant and she couldnt stand on her feet and i think for a month she either was at the front desk doing reception or in the back working on her maniquinn i never actually ever saw her at a station while she was there...idk.

Hi, i had my surgery on Friday and went back to work on Tues. Now as a cosmo student, im figuring you have to stand alot, but honestly if your pain tolerance is good, you should be okay. Just make sure to sit down and rest as often as possible. My tummy felt like someone kicked me a few times but all in all it wasn't to bad. The worse part for me was i had allergy to the anestesia(sp?) and had itchey's on my hands and feet for a week. That sucked!!

I had surgery July 2 and went back to work 6 days later. I figured that since I have a desk job, it wouldn't be too bad. Well, I wished that I would have taken an extra day or two. I thought I would be fine, but I didn't know how tired and weak I would be. I'm doing ok now, but really could have used a few more days. Good luck with your decision.

rest as much as humanly possible while you are off. I have a desk job but I am up and down a lot. I had surgery on june 11th and went back to work on the 18th full force.

The first few days back were rough and I went home and slept and stuff but its doable.

You will know if you will be OK to go ya know what I mean.

You will do great!!

Are you thinking of having surgery on a thurs and going back monday? From my personal experience I would say take it easy. I ended up getting a stomach virus the day after banding, so I was in the hospital for a week. The thing that stinks is you don't know what will happen. You may be fine or you may end up with a complication so plan accordingly.

I was not one of those people who bounced right back and went out shopping two days after surgery, although after everything I read I thought I would be able to do just that. In reality I had some pretty major pain going on. I was scheduled to take only three days off work and had to make it a full week.

I work at a school and I had to do two lunch duties in a row. After an hour standing on my feet and wiping tables I would be in so much pain..It would take everything I had to walk back down the hallway to my classroom without crying. That lasted a couple of weeks.

Now, everything is fine and I am thrilled with my decision to be banded. Talk with your instructors up front, ask them what will happen if you need to take time out and get off your feet. Do you have to do manicures as well? Perhaps you can do that while you are recovering.
