Well I started gathering information for approaching a surgeon. First I contacted my insurance company to see if it was even covered, and it was, I just had to do several things, weight history, attempted diet, exercise, or diet pills, psyciatric evaluations, seminar, proof of obesity, proof of health problems related to weight.

Sooo far I have done a few things...

Called the ER since I didnt have a family doctor 5 years ago, but i've had a few share of er visits, 15 to be exact in the past 5 years lol. So monday I will pick them up since the medical records lady has to go into storage to get them, how nice of her, she was sweet.

Called my family doctor that i have now, to enquire about my past visit for my back problems, which i have issues with my disc, that either requires back surgery or physical therapy, or....weight loss.. (That should cover the proof of health problems right?) And the receptionist of my family doctor said, i should come in because my doctor can help me write out my request, and help me with my supervised weight loss regimin, hey maybe he'll do more than help me out and help figure out a plan for the supervised weightl loss, then he has a doctor in ST. Augustine florida that he reffers his lapband patients too, and the mass majority of the drs. in st. augustine are brilliant, and I looooove the hospital in st. augustine, I had my son there, and they are so sweet, its just a great hospital, even the ER staff there are impressive....anyways

I still need to do the psyciatric evaluation, and the seminar...

ONLY thing i'm worried about is, about 3 years ago I lived in atlanta for a year and a half, and i never went to the hospital or doctor....the whole time, crazy but i didnt, i hope that doesnt come back to bite me in the hiney, a whole year and a half of no records???? OH should i get the records from my ob when i was pregnant with the weight records? I'm worried cause if they see i was pregnant they'll say its just baby weight, which its not, cause i weighed 246 day I had logen, then 2 months later when I had to have my galbladder removed, right when i got my staples out i weighed 203, (I've put back on 30 pounds in the past year ugh!!!)

SOO should I call my ob, and maybe the hospital where i had my galbladder removed as well, would me having my galbladder removed help my case, since i had stones? Sorry for all the questions again, i'm hoping to get this approved by august, i know its high hopes, but i have 3 weeks off from school in august which would be perfect for recooping from a surgery, probably wont happen that fast, but one can dream right?:blink:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
