Three months since surgery!

Recommended Posts

And I'm so glad I have the band. I'm a male that started my pre-op diet on March 28, at 319lbs and now I'm down 243lbs yeilding a 76lb weight-loss in 3.5 months.

I still haven't had a fill at my doctor's request. I think part of it is due to a smaller band installed by my doctor and my change in eating habits. I've become so enamored with exercise, healthly eating habits, and maintaining a mentally-strong mindset that I haven't stumbled yet. My doctor doesn't want my results to suffer from a change in habit caused by a fill.

As conceded as it sounds, everyday that goes by I become stronger (mentally and physically) and the stumbling blocks become easier to traverse. I'm winning and the margin of victory is increasing!

I hope those of you considering the band take into account all the advantages and disadvantages. I also hope you realize the high success rate of the band if its used as a tool in your fight against weight problems.

You have to chose which team you want to be on, the band or your weight problem. You're the swing vote. Team up and work with the band and the weight-problem will lose. Team up with the weight-porblem and work against the band and the band will lose...it's really that simple.

Good Luck to Everyone!

Bragger! Just kidding...I'm thrilled for you. You are a great success story, and you were definitely ready for the band. Hang in there and keep up the great work! You are turning into a better (and smaller) version of YOU, and you are going to be a role model to so many, whether or not you want to be one.

Hey, great story. i love hearing peoples successes ... all too often we can get caught up in what is not going right.

However i do have to say ... you men ... you make me so jealous at the rate you lose weight!!! Haha ... good on you!!

i have to stay i am so pleaed with my own journey so far. i am over half way to goal in 7 months ... can not complain at that.

i just invested in a punch bag, pink boxing gloves, dumbbells and resistance bands ... this is to add to my already full on cardio work outs ... lean muscle burns fat!!

Fantanstic story. I love to read about the successes of fellow bandsters. Yep, men usually lose quicker but it is not any easier. We all have to avoid our person problem foods. Again continued success on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
