"Slider' foods that good for you- suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hi all;

I am looking for slider foods that are actually good for us.

I love Hormel Chili with Beans- individual servings for 190 cal with 14 grms of Protein. Love 'em for lunch or munch. Nuke 'em and eat 'em.

What are your favorites?

Sadie

OMG- My Mom came to visit me a few weeks ago and made this dish for me. It's great!

Slice an eggplant- very thin...

Lay out slices on a baking sheet sprayed w/ cooking spray...

Take a brush and apply VERY small amount of EVOO or Veggie Oil to the tops...

Bake until tender... (just about 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven)

While that's in the oven- Make a Marinara sauce...

(EVOO- Crushed Tomatoes- Garlic- Basil- salt & pepper)

In a square pan (or lasagna pan if you're making a lot)

Put small amt of sauce

Layer of Eggplant

Sauce

Eggplant etc...(should make 3 or 4 layers)

Sprinkle top with Parmigiana Cheese

Bake until browned (about 20 minutes)

It's "DIET"- because there is no Mozzarella or Ricotta or Breadcrumbs or Deep Frying!!! WooHooo!!!!!!!!!

There is a restaurant near me that makes a chicken "spread" that is the consistency of hummus. It is sooooo unbelievable. I also like Hormel firehouse chili with 2% mexican cheese sprinkled on top with a tablespoon of fat-free sour cream.....yummy! Great now I am hungry!

My band is probably a bit too tight -- I have trouble with solid foods most of the time.

I am losing weight pretty consistently so I don't want to loosen up my band. I'll get a bit of saline out when I hit goal.

Anyway that's why I'm asking about slider foods --i'm sick of all my choices- need some new ideas.

You gave me an idea-- put my chicken in my chopper and grind it up fine-- with some mayo-- that should work well. And hummus is a good idea.

I can eat crunchy stuff like nachos but nothing very soft like quesodillas or bread.< /p>

Thanks and success on your journey to all.

Sadie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
