dwrd73 0 Posted July 10, 2008 Hi, I'm recently found this forum last week. My wife and I both decided to get banded and just finished all of our pre-surgery testing for the lap-band. Hopefully our insurance will approve us quickly so we can still get this done before the end of summer. Does anyone know if it matters if your BMI drops below the required number during the pre-op diet? My BMI was 35.6 on the day I met with the doctor. Since I have hypertension my BMI meets the requirement for my insurance, but what happens if or when I loose weight during the pre-op diet? Should I be concerned? Was anyone else in the same situation?
pearlygirl 1 Posted July 10, 2008 Once you're approved, your're approved. They won't take it back. I was weighed on the day of surgery and had fallen under my required BMI of 40. It doesn't matter, they expect that you'll lose weight during the pre-op phase. Good luck to you!
rambokitty66 0 Posted July 10, 2008 Thanks for asking that question.....I was getting ready to ask the same question because I am just above 35 BMI and know I will lose weight during the pre-op stage. I just want to hurry and get started on this weightloss journey and to better health. Good luck! Keep us posted.
dwrd73 0 Posted August 13, 2008 Just wanted to know if anyone else had more to add to this post. I'm now on the pre op diet and I'm starting to lose weight. I still have this nightmare that my surgery will not be covered. My wife says I'm crazy. Anyone else in the same situation? Please tell me I have nothing to worry.
